An old tobacco barn on Route 47 in Sunderland, The Rusty Nail was a little piece of heaven, hosting an incredible array of local and international acts, including the Ramones, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and James Brown, and even the Buzzcocks and Dead Kennedys. Just like any roadside honky tonk — it was dirty, dark, and beer was cheap. It smelled flammable, like it might go up at any moment...and unfortunately it burned to the ground in 1985.
