The CCA was formed in 1954 by the Comics Magazine Association of America as an alternative to government regulation. The CCA allowed comic publishers to self-regulate the content of comic books in the USA. Every comic-loving kid knows the iconic logo, displayed prominently on the cover of every comic they read, lending their favorite titles gravitas and legitimacy.
