On December 1, 1976, WMET was born, becoming arguably the “greatest rock station in Chicago.” On the eve of switching to an adult contemporary format in 1985, WMET aired the now infamous “enough is enough” teaser campaign, in which the station periodically interrupted the rock music with static and a man's voice shouting, "Enough is enough!" which confounded and infuriated listeners.
