Chicago’s Rose Records was founded in 1931 as a radio store named Rose Radio. They later added phonographs and records, which overtook radio sales, prompting Rose to stop selling radios altogether. Rose quickly expanded the record chain — its flagship store on Wabash Avenue was one of the world’s largest record stores, with two-stories and over 100,000 titles on cassettes, CDs and LPs.
