Republic Country Club & BBQ in Houston, owned by DJ celebrity Michael Berry, was a perfectly fine place to see live acts, but the real attraction was its BBQ. Republic arguably served, bar-none, some of the best ribs ever — just the right char, and falling off the bone — plus tender, smoked to perfection Texas brisket, jalapeño sausage, a better than outstanding Mexican creamed corn and Fritos mac & cheese. Always sad when great Texas BBQ dies…
