Opened in 1977 in Houston, The Laff Stop was seen as the lynchpin of the Houston comedy scene. It was the launching pad for hometown comedians like Ralphie May, Brett Butler, and Sean Rouse, and the site where hit comedy albums, including Mitch Hedberg's Strategic Grill Locations, Dane Cook's Harmful if Swallowed, and Joe Rogan's I'm Gonna Be Dead Someday were recorded.
