Steamboat was never Austin’s average live music venue. With their policy of giving bands full door receipts, they supported local music wholeheartedly. Steamboat was the home of all-star bands and late-night jams. It was where Stevie Ray Vaughan’s In the Beginning was recorded, where comedians Bill Hicks and Sam Kinison honed their timing and where Gibby Haynes unknowingly relieved himself on an S.R.O. crowd. Yes, that happened.
