Opened in 1978 in Houston, the Comedy Workshop was where Sam Kinison’s 1993 posthumous comedy album, Live from Hell, was recorded. It was the breeding ground for many influential comics including Bill Hicks, Brett Butler, T. Sean Shannon and the Texas Outlaw Comics (Google them — they were riotous!). Speaking of riotous…Sam Kinison was once famously suspended from the Comedy Workshop for inciting a riot. So that would make it a literal laugh riot! (rimshot here, please)…
